Motivation

In Calculus you learn what a derivative is and how to take an anti-derivative, and through ‘The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus’ learn its relation to the area under a curve. This theorem is not proven, but instead taken as fact. Much of Real Analysis is formalizing these ideas of Calculus under mathematical rigor.
